Which is the best cruisline for a family from toddler to teen kids + parents – out of Philadelphia, or NYC?
We want to go someplace warm like the Bahamas, Carribean, Bermuda maybe…somewhere warm – we are undecided.
First we want to find a good cruiseline out of Philadelphia or NYC. One that caters to families with children. We may also bring the grandparents along (they would mostly stay on the ship or close to the ship).
Once we find a great cruiseline (with pref good prices) we will check out their itineraries and decide where we would like to go.
We considered Disney cruisline, but want to save on the airfare to Florida. Otherwise we would definitely use Disney.
(Kids ages are 2, 8, 14 – w/b at time of trip)
Although Norwegian Cruise Lines leaves from Philadelphia, the pricing is somewhat higher than leaving from New York.
Pricing example for 6 nights Bahamas for family of 5:
$4,017 Oceanview or $4,667 Balcony (Norwegian)
Pricing example for 7 nights Bermuda for family of 5:
$4,363 Oceanview or $4,643 Balcony (Norwegian)
Pricing example for 9 nights Caribbean for family of 5:
$4,518 Oceanview or $4,853 Balcony (Princess)
(all $ based on pricing during summer vacation)
Both lines have GREAT age appropriate programs for children; however only Norwegian will allow 2-year olds into their kids’ program (Princess rules are 3 years or under with a parent present at all times while in the kids’ center).
