How do you keep sweet potatoes from rotting in water?
I’ve been trying to grow whole sweet potatoes with the toothpicks + jar of water method, but they all start to rot at some point after sprouting. Is there a way to prevent this?
Yes, I keep the toothpicks out of the water. Only the bottom 1/3 of the potato is submerged.
Don’t use toothpicks. Put water in the jar leaving about inch or so of the growing tip out of the water. You need to replace the water every two or three days. Use distilled water if possible.
