A Gunsmoke Daydream
It is early morning in Dodge City and the first stage coach is gearing up to head out of town. “Marshall Dillon! Marshall Dillon!” Chester hollers, running into the Marshall’s office. “Miss Kitty is a-leavin’ an’ she sez it’s fer good!” he exclaims. Then he stops short, seeing an unfamiliar woman sitting in the Marshall’s lap.
“Why don’t you introduce me to your friend, Matt Baby?” the woman says.
“Well, Chester, I’d like you to meet my wife,” Dillon says. “Miss Sunshine, this is Chester.”
“Yer wife?” Chester is confused, but gradually recovers. “Mighty pleased to meetcha, ma’am.” Chester works this over in his mind, and his eyes widen with enlightenment. “Wull, this must have somethin’ ta do with Miss Kitty’s lightin’ out!”
“You’ve hit the nail straight on the head,” Dillon confirms. “Miss Sunshine had my heart from our first kiss and Kitty knew there was no way she could stand up to the competition.” He and Sunshine smile adoringly at each other. No words are necessary to express their feelings; their love story is written in the stars.
