What is the difference between a sun and a cocktail dress?
My brother is getting married next month and my sister and I are going to be the guest book agents. We bought two dresses, but I'm not going to be rather formal. Marriage is 6:30 pm, and from what I read in a cocktail dress would be more appropriate. So my question is, what exactly is a cocktail dress? And what a dress? I'm trying to determine whether our clothes are eligible or not. Many responses as fair would be appreciated. My dress looks a bit like this, but has more of a basis of coffee, and is a gauze fabric with satin ribbon. Formality. A summer dress is very casual dress (usually cotton or linen … very light). A cocktail dress is very formal, like the dresses to see the stars at the Oscars.
