How can you turn a long sleeve shirt into a short sleeved shirt?
My boyfriend and I both go to sixth form and he has to wear a shirt and tie, with ties being optional in these summer months. However his favourite shirt is too small in the arms but he still wears it, (much to my dismay) making him look rather foolish if he takes his jacket off. He’s agreed to let me try to turn the long sleeved shirt into a short sleeved one. Any tips/techniques for doing this successfully?
Take another of his short sleeve shirts, and lay it on top of the one to be cut. Measure down two inches from the sleeves of the second shirt. Cut along that line. Turn up the cut sleeves so that there is a one inch hem. Sew the hem in and you will have shortened the sleeves. A word of caution. The collars on long sleeve shirts are slightly different then on short sleeve shirts, as a tie is not expected to be worn with short sleeves.
