Is there any way to wash a shirt and keep permanent marker on it?
I recently went to a Black Veil Brides concert and purchased a shirt that I got all the band members to sign. I really want to wear it but I’m worried if it keeps getting washed the marker (silver Sharpie) will wear off. Someone told me I should wash it by hand with soap and water but my mom won’t let me do that because she said it won’t get clean. Any suggestions??
Allow about a week or two for the ink to completely set.
Turn the shirt inside out to help reduce the amount of rubbing on the ink. Wash it in cold water, on the gentle cycle, using a minimal amount of detergent.
If you choose to wash your shirt by hand, still turn it inside out. Use a little bit of detergent in a sink full of cold water. Swish the shirt around a bit, then let it sit in the water for 5 or 10 minutes. Rinse well with several changes of cold water, until there seems to be no more soap left.
Either way you should be able to machine dry your shirt, using the permanent press cycle. Or else you can always line dry it.
