10 yr old boy getting purity ring?
What do you think about a 10 year old boy getting a promise/chastity ring? His older sister (she is 14) is getting one and their mother is getting one for him too. I think he is young and barely understands what it means. What do you think?
I don’t think it’s worth anything at all to the person who is supposed to wear it if they are so young that they don’t even understand what it is supposed to symbolize or what the promise actually means.
For older children who understand what sex is and what they are ostensibly promising not to experience until a certain time, then it is fine to wear a symbol of that faith and decision.
For children this young who cannot even begin to comprehend what a promise about sex might mean to them, it’s kind of pushing something onto them that they may not want to choose if they were older or better educated.
There’s plenty of time for promises. Let them come to them on their own terms.
