Excuse me ladies and gentleman. May I ask your assistance on a baffling wardrobe crisis? ?
I must know if it’s an absolute must to have a matching robe & slippers? When I spend the night at various lover’s, I always bring my plush robe and loafer slippers. But, they don’t match. Well, I assume you’re a guy, or your parents stuck you with a shxt name for a girl.
So, Its not necessary unless what you have is a major clash. As in, purple robe with yellow slippers. Ew…
But you dont want to be to matchy-matchy, as if you bought your slippers in a set with your robe.
Really, just walking around in boxers is sexier.
If you must, the robe is fine in more neutral colors:
grey, navy blue, mayybee white. The thing is, colours like black and white are too drastic, white robes work best for women. But black is just a little too dark.
No red, red says: Check me out, I’m a bachelor who probably likes my furniture with leapord patterns on it *wink-wink
And thats just not romantic, or even cool, okay?
Grey is your easiest choice. Actually, I’m warming up to white a little more, that would be good too. Just make sure its not too plushie, otherwise you look like a snowman.
Whats really good for a guy, in my opinion, is the cotton plaid robe. Thinner, not as warm, but thats what layers are for darling.
Here’s one I like, dont think its what I just described though. But its not terry cloth, which is what I’m getting at (meaning, its better when its not to plush):

Now, you can wear your loafers with that, and it’ll go perfectly. Its something I like to call hobo chic, and if you can pull it off, then take advantage of it. Johnny can totally rock that look with a smile.

Now, I think this is a wonderful look. Very ‘Check me out in my sexy just-woke-up state, you know you love it’. And if you have a plaid, a subtle one preferably (something in a dark blue is nice, rather than burberry plaid which is too beige), then you can match it with anything. Boxers, grey t-shirt, lots of neutrals. It looks very careless, yet somehow very amazing. You can wear bunny slippers with this kind of robe, it depends on whether you can pull it off.
Just dont go with:
red robes (unless in plaid)
silk robes (only good for us girlies)
sandal-slippers (guys toes should be covered, the showing-socks thing is crossing the line between hobo-chic and poorly-desperate)
beige (did I spell that right?)
purple, yellow, pink and pink. They just arent subtle enough. You dont want to look like you’re trying too hard.
Another good tip is to leave the robe open like the last link I posted. Except, less hairy. Its adds nicely to the ensemble.
