i want to paintball should I?
i just got a green spyder victor 2 for an early Christmas present from my brother in-law and sis. i want to play this weekend in the woods or a friends field with bushes. but i don’t want to get welts all over. i was wondering if i wear a long sleeve, sweatshirt, mask, jeans, and sweatpants if ill be okay? I’m 14 and a girl and i really want to play! is it fun? and will it hurt with layers? also what do you recommend for boob protection?
There is padded gear designed specifically for paintball that doesn’t cost too much. I would recommend going to http://www.paintball-online.com and http://www.xpaintball.com to see the different styles, brands, prices, etc. then go to ebay and’/or craigslist and try to find a used one for cheap. You should be able to find them listed under safety/protection on any paintball website.
For the most part they are like UnderArmour, but with built in padded areas. Some are bulky and some are very comfortable. You tend to get what you pay for. If you only want to spend $20.00, you’re going to get a bulky chest protector. If you spend $60.00, you’ll get a form fitting padded sports shirt that fits well and gives you plenty of freedom of movement as well as good protection.

As far as paintballs hitting you in general; it’s more of the sudden shock that gets you. In that first instant when you get hit, the first thing that goes through your mind is “Okay, that hurt. I need to get out of here.” When you get shot, you are to immediately raise your gun and yell “Hit! Hit!” and walk off of the field, that way you don’t get shot again (which very rarely happens if you do this). By the time you get off the field, most of the pain will be gone and you’ll already be thinking about where you were, what you were doing, how you got shot, how to avoid making the same mistake again next time.
It’s true you you will have welts, but they are far from gory or painful. Usually the next day you’ll have a gorgeous purple bruise, but for the most part you only get those from direct hits. Consider it a battle scar and show it off to your friends (hey, chicks dig scars right?) Alot of times you get hit in the mask or gun. Or the paintball might just hit a fold of your clothes and you will hardly feel a thing.
For protecting your legs, some heavy sweatpants under some heavy jeans should do the trick. If you still think it hurts, just imagine what it would feel like if you had gone out there in shorts or just some thin jeans… yeah, not so bad now is it? LOL I really hope you have fun!
