Crocheters how to you crochet a button down sweater?
Could you make it the same as a pullover with separate pieces; and how do you get the button holes. Could you sew and extra piece on for that?
Most patterns will have some explanations as to how the garment is constructed. You need to know what kind of construction for example if its made in pieces or all in one or top down and seamless.Follow the instructions exactly.
Get a book or find a tutorial on You Tube or About.com or join one of the many crochet groups on Yahoo or elsewhere, you will learn heaps and its so handy if you haven’t got someone to show you personally.
Generally if you want a button hole you will skip for example 6 stitches but you will make 6 chain and continue your stitches as normal on the 7th onwards. Then you will do your turning chain and continue what ever stitches you are doing and when you get to the chain you will do a stitch in each chain as normal. This leaves the hole for the button. Make sure you know what button size so you don’t make the buttonhole to big or to small.
Have a practice on some scrap yarn and see how you go, You can also use this technique to make a handle for a simple bag/tote.
