Can The Day That You Have Sex Influence Whether You Have A Boy Or A Girl?
I often get emails asking me if the time of the month that intercourse or sex takes place helps to determine or influence your baby’s sex or whether you get a girl or a boy baby. The short answer to this question is that yes, when you have sex can definitely can influence your future baby’s gender. And, how you have intercourse and the PH that the sperm encounters once this happens is equally important. I’ll discuss this more in the following article.
The Basics Of Fertility Timing: I’m sure that you’re probably well aware of this, but I’m going to mention it anyway. You have a very short period of time (approximately 5 -7 days) where you are able to get pregnant. This happens when your egg develops / ripens and becomes ready to be fertilized. The next phase of this happens when the man’s sperm attempts to fertilize the waiting egg. Both the egg and the sperm have their own short life spans which affects how long you are technically fertile for. So, while it can be natural and fun to have intercourse throughout the month, only the intercourse that you have for approximately one week of your cycle can or will result in a pregnancy.
Remember when I mentioned the life span of the sperm? Well, there are two types – X and Y. X sperm develops into girl babies and Y sperm eventually becomes boy babies. Speaking of life span, the Y lives for the longest of the two by far. Y or boy sperm can only live for a few days at the most.
Having Sex Early In Your Cycle Is More Likely To Produce A Girl Baby: So I’ve already told you that the girl sperm is the most hardy of the two types. That’s why women who have sex earlier in their fertility cycle are more likely to become pregnant with girls. In a real life scenario, let’s say that your first day of menstruation (having your period) was what we’ll call day one. And, to make the estimate easy, I’ll say that the first day of ovulation (when your egg can be fertilized and you can become pregnant) will be day fourteen. (Now, many women guesstimate the midway point as the ovulation day when in fact many women ovulate much earlier or later so it can be a mistake to just arbitrarily assume this.)
So, let’s say that you begin having sex or intercourse on day 11. This would be optimal to get a daughter because the girl sperm have no problem living until day 14 or even day 15, but many of the boy sperm would not make it that far. Most of them would’ve already died off by day 14. Of course, there are always going to be some that are a bit stronger and some will get through. But, there are other things that you can do to take care of the rest, and you’ve already greatly increased your odds for success.
Having Intercourse Later In Your Cycle Will Most Likely Get You A Boy Baby: Let’s stay with the above scenario. Let’s say that we waited until day 14 or even day 15 to have intercourse. By this time, you may well still have some X or female sperm left. However, the boy sperm (Y) are the fastest of the two, by far. So, by waiting, you’ve given the healthy Y sperm the opportunity to use their speed. And if you wait until day 15, some of the X sperm will have made their exit, increasing your chances even more.
I hope that it’s fairly obvious that accuracy with your timing is very important. I’ve used the mid way point as an example only. But many women ovulate as early as day 9-10 or as late as day 25. So it’s very important that you find a reliable way to figure out exactly when your fertility cycle starts and ends.
How You Have Sex Or Intercourse Is As Important As When You Have It: We’ve talked about timing, now let’s talk about positions. Different positions can also increase your odds of getting the gender that you want. For example, using rear entry positions or those that provide deeper penetration can help make you more favorable to get a son because you’re giving the fast boy sperm a quicker trip. On the opposite side, the traditional missionary position or others which allow for shallow positioning make it more likely that you will have a girl because the X girls have no problem with this distance.
Another thing that you’ll need to look at is your acidity. You want a high PH for a daughter and a low one for a son.
