Eco Mother and Baby – Green advice for new mums
There probably won’t be any more of an exciting, and yet daunting time than when you are starting a family. But children don;t come cheap and not only does it cost a fortune in financial terms to bring up a baby these days it can also cost the environment too.

Many of the products available for babies are not designed with eco friendly credentials in mind and can be quite damaging to the environment.
However, we all want what’s best for our children and few new mums would want to compromise on the well-being of their child to help the environment – but being an eco friendly mum doesn’t necessarily mean you have to.
Nappies
Perhaps the single most environmentally damaging aspects of a new baby are the disposable nappies. A baby can go through dozens of nappies a week and as they are not bio-degradeable all these soiled nappies can linger in landfills for decades.
Bamboo Baby Grow
Of course, we may all recall the old terry towelling nappies used by our parents and grandparents but this can appear as too much work, especially for a new parent which is juggling work and bringing up baby too.
However, washable nappies are not as daunting to use as many people think. They can be stored in a nappy bucket and washed in the machine once a full load is ready. This isn’t really a difficult task and will save a fortune on disposable nappies in the long run.
Baby Clothes
Baby clothing is an area where changing to eco-friendly alternative can actually be better for your baby. Some eco-friendly fabrics such as bamboo are thermosensitive – helping you baby stay cool in the heat and keeping it warm in the cold. Bamboo baby clothes are also every bit as soft and comfortable as cotton but as bamboo baby clothes such as a bamboo baby grow is made from a sustainable source it is far less damaging to the environment
For those not wanting to stray from cotton then organic cotton baby clothing is available that ensure the cotton used is from only sustainable sources so you can be assured that when you dress you baby you are not stripping the planet of it’s natural resources
