Do I need special detergent for baby clothes?

We are about to have a baby and would like to know what kind of detergent we should use for the baby’s clothes.

Do we need to buy something special?

How much clothes does a baby really need? Our friends and family gave us so much already, I don’t think I need to buy any for the beginning.

The dreft detergent is “gentle” but gets nothing out of clothes. I use the tide liquid, and add the extra rinse cycle on my washer. I also have had more success with the liquid downy rather than dryer sheets. It rinses out and doesn’t have the filmy residue that made me and baby break out.

A baby doesnt need a whole lot. Just remember that you will go through 2-3 outfits a day, so plan on how often you want to do laundry. I liked having 10-12 cute outfits each size, and 7 pajamas. Then I could do laundry just once a week. I also liked having 2 dresses each size, so we could go to church, and if we went somewhere else nice during the week. Also, the nicest pajamas for newborns are the little nightgowns with the elastic at the bottom.
