When did it become socially acceptable for people to have multiple baby showers?
I don’t get it! Maybe I’m old-fashioned or maybe I’m naive. A member of my family sold her first child’s clothes on e-bay and now she’s registered for all sorts of stuff. Is this what people do??
I need to clarify- this is her second child. Shouldn’t she already have all the “stuff”??
I think it is circumstantial. The 2nd, 3rd, etc. child deserve a baby shower, but the parents don’t need tons of new stuff each time. Even a simple cake and a celebration with friends sounds nice to me.
Some circumstances where a second shower could be deemed appropriate is if the second child is a different gender, the person is going to have multiples (twins, triplets, etc.) after having a first child, or it has been a LONG time (5+ years) since they had that first child and had given away everything not anticipating a second.
From your tone, it sounds like this woman just had a child within the past year or two, and now she wants all the stuff SHE wants for the child, not what other people bought her. In that case, she is being very selfish.
