How much money did you save for your first baby?
I have a hand-me-down minivan, a job, baby clothes that will be donated from my aunt and uncle, and I plan on using cloth diapers.
I will be having a baby shower as well.
How much money should I expect to spend each month on things like childcare?
My son is seven months old and I pay 75$ a week for part time child care. I buy one of the boxes of diapers every two weeks for 20$. I do get help with his formula from wic and end up buying a can of formula a month 12$. I buy the box of wipes that has five packages of wipes in it for 8$ every two months. And seven packages of baby food a week at 1$ each. So monthly this adds up to 384 dollars.
I start buying clothes that are on clearance that will fit him to help with that budget as well as get hand me downs from friends and family members. At my babyshower I got most of the equipment I needed like a crib, bouncer, swing and bathtub. Out of pocket my boyfriend and I have bought the car seat 80$, playyard/bassinet combo 90$, jumperoo 75$ and hight chair 100$.
Its much more less expensive than I had thought. And I had no money saved up before hand and lost my job a month before having him and only got unemployment which was half of my regular income. This is on top of rent, utilities, two car payments, insurance and two cell phone bill.
