Fabric softener and baby clothes?
I’ve always heard not to use fabric softener on kids and babies pj’s because it can weaken the fire retardant in the fabric. Does anyone know if this rule applies to liquid AND dryer sheets and does this rule apply only to pj’s or to ALL kids and baby clothes??
I’m washing all of my babies clothes right now (getting ready for her to finally get here! Yay!) and I keep getting crazy static. I’m using Dreft liquid detergent.

don’t use either the fabric softener or the dryer sheets.
what i use is white vinegar! Pour the white vinegar in the washing machine where you’d NORMALLY put the fabric softener. and then wash as usual. I like to use 1/2 the compartment filled with white vinegar, but you can use more if you prefer.
The vinegar works by removing any traces of liquid detergent from the clothes. This “enlivens” the fibres making them soft and “new” again. The clothes will NOT smell like vinegar which i know was a huge relief when i first tried it lol
I especially like washing new things clothes sheets and towels from the shops with vinegar, because it takes all their starch out, reducing any chance for allergic reactions on the skin.
